This selection of beach bars near Bareyo goes from closest to farthest, and it focuses on places where you're truly on the sand or right at the water's edge — not the tablecloth terraces we already covered in our guide to eating in Ajo and Bareyo. Here the criteria are different: proximity, a laid-back vibe, and no need to change out of your swimsuit to sit down. And in the middle of July, with the sand packed, it's also the fastest way to find a spot without fighting over a free umbrella.
Chiringuito La Lagartija — the closest to Bareyo, right on Cuberris beach
Right on the sand at Cuberris — the same Ajo beach that's five minutes from the villas — La Lagartija sets up its wooden structure every summer just steps from the water. It's the beach bar that reopens each season with a short menu built to save your beach time: sandwiches, shared plates and cold drinks, served fast so you can get back in the water.
It's not the place for a long meal — it's the go-to stop in the middle of the afternoon, when hunger hits and you don't want to leave your towel. Call ahead if you're a large group: the space is small and fills up fast in August.
My Friend Bar&Club — the surf vibe of Berria Beach
Fifteen to twenty minutes from Bareyo, on the sand of Berria Beach in Santoña, My Friend Bar&Club works like few other places around here: by day it's a beach bar with a surfer feel, surfboards leaning against the wall and music playing in the background; by night it turns into the beach's meeting point, with more people and more noise. It's open every day from 12:20 pm to 3:00 am, so it works just as well for a beer straight out of the water as for a late night out.
It's the pick if your plan includes surfing in the morning and some atmosphere once the sun goes down — few nearby spots combine both so well.
Chiringuito La Arena — the family-friendly option in Isla
A little over ten minutes away, on Playa de la Arena in Isla (Arnuero), this beach bar handles a full day with kids well: generous portions, paella made to order, and a roast chicken that comes up again and again in reviews. Prices run around €10-20 per person, among the most affordable on this list, and the service has a reputation for being fast even in the middle of August.
It's literally steps from the sand, so there's no need to lug the umbrella back to the car to grab a bite. A good choice if your group has young kids or if you simply don't want to deal with reservations. From the outdoor tables you can see the whole shoreline, so children can swim without you losing sight of them while the food arrives.
Chiringuito La Huella — the simple getaway to Galizano
The farthest of the four, about twenty-five minutes along the coast to Galizano, in Ribamontán al Mar. It's the simplest beach bar on the list — few tables, a short menu, and prices you barely see anymore: a coffee runs about €2 and a tortilla pincho with a beer comes in under €5. No long menus, no pretense, just a wooden bar looking out over the sand at Galizano.
It's worth the detour if your day already takes you through that stretch of the Ribamontán al Mar Surf Reserve, or simply if you're after the least touristy beach bar on the whole list.
